I Finished The Semester

dress: wet seal
sweater: forever 21
boots: local

Today was my last day of school. I have officially finished my 3rd semester of college. Can you believe it? I can't! Yet, I am so happy and ready for this break. Next semester everything is going to be different. My class load and the subjects are very different than anything I have taken in the past. I am so excited to start the design program.

Any who this outfit felt very school girl to me. That was not really the look I was going for, but hey it works! I love this whole layered dresses look. It is so fun to me, and it keeps me much warmer than just a dress. I am always cold so I like this style a lot.

Have you gotten into this layering style?

Christmas Traditions

My family has a lot of traditions. Some of them may not be set in stone or even talked about, but those traditions are definitely there. It seems that we have so many!

I thought since some of the traditions are starting to happen about now in our life I would share some of the traditions with you! The first one of course is decorating the house and Christmas tree. You can read about that here.

Another Christmas tradition we have is watching Christmas movies.

We have this pile of movies sitting by the tv once Thanksgiving passes. My family tries to get through all of them by Christmas. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't. So far we have watched The Santa Clause, and Holiday Inn.

Another tradition that we have is on Christmas day my mom makes cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and we all open our presents as a family. My dad also does a scavenger hunt for my sister and I. It is something he has done since we were very little! It starts off by having us wait in one room while my dad hides clues all over the house. Then once he is ready for us he calls us out and gives us the first clue. These clues lead us to the next one and so forth until we find our last present.

This picture was from last year. The clues that we found each had a letter attached to it and we had to unscramble the letters to find the place our present was hiding. My dad has had to try and make it harder every year as we get older. This tradition is so fun, and something I want to continue when I have a family one day.

What are your Christmas traditions? Do you have any other Christmas movies to add to our pile?

The Weekend

Today is the last Monday of the semester! Talk about exciting. I am so ready to move on! I am so excited for the break. It is much needed!

This weekend was a pretty busy one. Friday night was the last big event for my school. It was an event I had never been to before. It was so awesome to be apart of this year!

The theme was roaring 20s. It was so fun to get dressed up and learn to dance the Charleston. I really enjoyed myself!

Saturday was a day at home. I wrapped presents, did chores, and watched a Christmas movie with my family and D.

Sunday was another Disney day! My sister has recently turned 18, and we all headed to Disneyland to celebrate.

After being there for a little bit a bunch of her friends joined us. It was a nice fun time for her.

How was your weekend? Are you getting your shopping done?

New York City Trip Part 3

If you have been following along then you know that today is my last day of my New York City Trip Recap. If you want to check out part 1 or part 2 click there!

Here's one shot that I captured on our last day there. My sister and I were walking through Central Park on the way back to our apartment.

We are now on to day 5! It was raining again that day. However, I did not think that it was as cold. My family started this day off by my dad going to get tickets for us to see Newsies. My mom, sister, and I got dressed and headed over to the Upper East Side (the gossip girl fan in me was going crazy!). We checked out FAO Schwarz, and then headed to the iconic Tiffany & Co. I was able to add one more blue box to my collection!

After that we went and saw the musical Newsies. This was my sisters dream. She enjoyed that so much! Once the show finished we had dinner and then went to Dylan's Candy Bar.

Day 6 was more of a chill day since it was Thanksgiving. We got up and walked the block to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade root. It was so crazy being that close to such a tradition!

After the parade my family went back over to the Upper East Side so my sister and I could imitate Blair and Serena in front of the Pulitzer Fountain.

Then we all went on a carriage ride. This has been one of my mom's dreams for forever!

Once that was finished my parents went back to the apartment, and my sister and I went to go take pictures on The Met steps. My sister is the best she went all over the Upper East Side so I could take my gossip girl pictures.

After The Met we went and found Laduree. I had never had a macaroon before. These were seriously incredible! I cannot believe I have gone so long without tasting one.

That was kind of our last hurrah there! It was such an incredible vacation and I really hope I can go back one day. I would love to visit again in a different season and see what it is like in Manhattan then.

New York City Trip Part 2

Okay friends, today I will be recapping Day's 3 and 4 of my New York Vacation. If you want to read about day's 1 and 2 click here.

Day 3 was a bit of a history day. We started off by going to see the 9/11 memorial. I was very young when 9/11 happened. I don't really remember much about that day. I just knew that something very bad had happened. Going to the memorial and seeing the time line in the visitor center and how everything happened was terrifying. It made the incident so much more real!

After the memorial we went to see the statue of liberty. That was really awesome! We didn't go onto the island, but we took a ferry that went right past her. She is not as big as I would have expected to be honest.

On Day 4 the weather called for rain. We had to try and do everything we wanted before the rain started around 2:00pm. We started this day off with the Empire State Building. This was awesome! It was so cool to see Manhattan from so high up. It was also really awesome, because so many movies have been filmed there! Not to mention gossip girl ;)

After that we headed up and saw Rockefeller Center. We didn't ice skate there though since it was so expensive. We did get to go ice skating in Central Park! That is where I would have rather skated too. It was so beautiful! We made it there just before it started sprinkling. That was so much fun! I think that is one of my favorite things that we were able to do in New York.

Once the rain started it was pouring! It was such a shock how much rain they get in New York. In a day and a half they practically get the amount of rain that So Cal gets all year! We hiked it back to our apartment and cuddle up in the warmth!

Stay tuned the last 2 days of my vacation will be back tomorrow!

New York City Trip Part 1

That right there was the view from our apartment that we stayed in while visiting New York. This vacation was amazing! It was so fun. I really enjoyed it! Here on the bloggy blog I am going to do a short recap of this trip. Be prepared for an overload of pictures!

We arrived in New York at around midnight so that night we literally went straight to bed. The next day we went and explored the part of Central Park that was closest to our hotel. It was so pretty with all the leaves! We don't really get changing leaves where I live so it was really awesome to see that!

That first real day there was one of the warmest we actually had while there! We California Girls were in for a real surprise of what cold actually is!

After Central Park we went over to Bryant Park, The New York Public Library, and Grand Central Station.

Now onto Day 2! We went up to the Museum of Natural History first. That was really cool walking around and seeing some of the creatures that are in the movie Night At The Museum.

GUM GUM DUM DUM

yes...I was sitting on Teddy Roosevelt's lap

After that my mom, sister, and I tried to find Mood, the fabric store on Project Runway. It took us a little bit of hunting, but eventually we tracked it down! Sadly, it was closed. Then we met up with my dad in Times Square, and ended the day at the Strand Bookstore. This place was my sisters heaven. I mean 18 miles of books! It was huge!

Tomorrow I shall recap some more!

Have you ever been to these places? What is cold to you?

A Weekend of Christmas Activites

Monday...today is not just a Monday but it is the Monday after Thanksgiving break. Which means back to reality. BLEH! Back to papers, projects, and work. None of which sounds very fun. All I want to do is curl up with a blanket, and hot coco in front of the newly put up Christmas tree. Doesn't that sound way better then sitting in humanities class? Well it sure does to me!

Today I am linking up with Sami! Here's what I did this weekend!

Saturday was really hard to get used to the time change again! I was up early and tired so early!

Donny and I started off by running errands. Also he went with me and waited while I got my nails done. Isn't he such a good boyfriend?! He really earned brownie points on Saturday.

After running errands we came back to my house. My dad and Donny put the lights up while my mom, sister, and I cooked Thanksgiving dinner. Since we didn't really get a Thanksgiving dinner in New York we decided to have one after the fact!

After dinner D, my sister, and I went to see Frozen. It was INCREDIBLE! For one, it is about sisters. I mean my sister is my best friend so of course I was going to love it! Plus, there was singing and the songs were so good. I just loved it! Such a great Disney movie! You all should go see it!

Sunday morning started off by watching this handsome man preach to the junior high ministry. It is something I do not get to watch every month, but I love to listen to God use him! It makes me so happy to see what Christ is doing through him!

After church my family headed out to a Christmas tree farm. This is now the 2nd year that my family has chopped down our Christmas tree. It is so fun! I really enjoy doing it! The tree is wayyy fresher than getting it at Home Depot, and it seems to last all the way throughout the season! If you have never chopped down your own tree before I seriously suggest it!

Of course after you get the tree you have to decorate it! This is a family tradition! We put Christmas music on and pull out all the ornaments. They all hold so many memories!

After my family decorated the tree I went up to Donny's house and hung out with his family.

Did you do any Christmas festivities this weekend? Seen any good movies lately?
