Casual Cute

This outfit was inspired by a friend that I walked past on my campus last week. She has amazing style, and I saw her in something similar and I thought "Hey I could recreate that!" So I put my own spin on it and voila

I spent my day in classes all day so it was super comfortable as well. I prefer to have my hair out of my face on my long class filled days too. This hairstyle is so easy! I also liked that once braided it showed off my highlights.

Date Night Attire

This past weekend Michael took me on a date for dinner and a movie. I wanted an outfit that was comfortable since I knew we would be sitting for the movie, yet I obviously wanted to look cute. Since I was going on a date I obviously wanted Michael to think I looked cute. I know that Michael likes me no matter how I look, but I still wanted to play toward what I know he likes. Michael isn't a fan of oxfords, so I knew that those shoes were out of the question. So I decided on this causal sweater and boots. I also pulled my hair back in a ponytail since this is Michael's favorite way for me to wear my hair! If my hair is pulled back he instantly will tell me I'm pretty.

What's your go to date outfit?

A Fun-filled Weekend

Y'all it's Monday....Do you have a case of the Monday's? I sure do! After having a really fun weekend, coming back to school and work is just not exciting. I just don't want to do it. I am sooooo ready for a day off? Thanksgiving break...it's just too far away.

Anyway on to my super fun weekend! Friday night started with work. My office put on an open mic night at school. Our coffee house events are one of my favorite things that we put on. The vibe is always really cool, and lots of people come! Not to mention the last open mic that my office did in the spring was where Michael asked me out for our first date. So that also makes these events really exciting.

Saturday morning and afternoon was spent garage saling with my family. I think we found some pretty cool things. This was really special for us since it seems like having the whole family together. Afterward my mom, sister, and I went to some thrift stores!

That night Michael took me out on a date. It's been awhile since we have been able to go out just us two so that was really nice. We went to dinner, and saw The Maze Runner. I thought that movie was super well done! Now that I have seen the movie I am really interested in reading the books!

Sunday was spent with the families! After church my parents, Michael, and me met his aunt, uncle, cousin, and mom at a pumpkin patch and corn maze. Over summer Michael and I spent a lot of time with his aunt and uncle so I was really excited for them to meet my parents. The corn maze was really fun too. Michael and my mom beat everyone!

What did you do this weekend?

Blake Lively Inspired Half-Up Side Fishtail

Today's post is inspired by Blake Lively. For one, who doesn't want this girls hair?! She is seriously gorgeous. Also did you guys here she's pregnant now? Her and Ryan Reynolds are going to have the most adorable child ever!

Anyway....on to the hair!
The pictures above show my rendition of this style, and my inspiration. Another awesome inspiration can be found on the blog His Little Lady. As you can see Blake's hair is a bit messier than mine. This can easily be achieved by first adding some waves to your hair. I left my natural texture for this style which is pretty straight and sleek.
TO CREATE:
Step 1: Brush through hair and create a side part.
Step 2: Right above the ears gather hair and pull to the side.
Step 3: Create a fishtail braid and secure with an elastic.
Step 4: Pull apart the fishtail to give it a more messy spread out look.

There ya go! If you do try out this hairstyle send me an email, tweet me, or tag me on instagram!

My Autumn Filled Weekend

My weekend was very enjoyable! I had a lot of fun, and got to do some fun fall things! I even got to wear boots which is always a bonus!

Friday night Michael, his friend, my sister, and I went and saw the theater production put on by my school. The play was "Spitfire Grille." I thought they did a pretty good job!

Saturday Michael and I headed up to Big Bear to spend the day with his parents. Michael was sick so we didn't spend to much time outside, but the drive up was very beautiful! The leaves have started to change which makes it actually feel like fall to me!

Sunday was spent immersed in fall...even though it was 90 degrees outside... But that's okay! We went shopping for Halloween costumes, and carved pumpkins! Michael had never carved  pumpkins before which is a tradition in my house! It was a lot of fun! I've seen this new thing of drilling the pumpkin which I decided to try. It didn't work out exactly as I had planned. I wanted pixie dust, but I think the drill bit needed to be a little bigger.

My weekend ended sleeping outside on concrete for tickets to one of the outdoor adventures that my school puts on. Even though it wasn't the most comfortable sleeping position I would say it was a lot of fun! That's what college is about right!? Very little sleep, but a whole lot of fun.

How was your weekend? Do any autumn things?

Friday's Letters

Dear Friday, I'm pretty pumped that this week is over. School is starting to become more busy and stressful, but that's okay. It was bound to happen sometime right? So here's to enjoying the weekend!

Dear Weather, We are still not in tune with what we think October should feel like...

Dear Weekend, Big Bear, pumpkin carving, and corn mazes...I'd say you look like you have a lot of fun lined up for me. Thanks for that!

Dear Michael, This past week we have spent a lot of time together simply doing homework. I guess that's the life of dating in college! I'm excited to take a break from that and have some fun this weekend.

Apple Turnover Recipe

What do you do after you go apple picking? Bake! So that's what I did. I made apple turnovers, and they are pretty darn good if I do say so myself! So I thought that I would share the recipe with y'all!

Ingredients:
4-8 apples (I made 24 and used 6 apples)
1/2 cup of white or brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
crescent rolls

1. Preheat the oven to the degrees on the crescent rolls instructions.

2. Peel the apples. My mom has an apple peeler that also takes the core out. It is super helpful!

3. Cut the apple slices into fourths.

4. Mix in the sugar, salt, cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg. I normally add the certain amount of cinnamon and then eye ball it to see if the majority of apples are covered.

5. Unroll the crescent rolls and add apples to the top part. I used the Pillsbury kind, but I'm sure anything would work.

6. Roll the crescent rolls, and tuck the sides on top.

7. Bake for the allotted amount of time on the crescent roll packaging.

Ta Da! All done! So simple, and so delicious! I would love to hear if you guys try this out!

Skater Skirts

The weather here in So Cal is definitely not autumny. I am not sure if autumny is even a word, but it is now! Either way cold is just not happening around these parts. As much as I would like to wear jeans with boots, and sweaters that just doesn't seem to be coming in my future. So skirts and flats are just the way to go. I love all things Paris so when I saw this shirt at Forever I just had to have it. I bought it back in March, and this is only the second time I have worn it. Why? I don't know. Why do us girls do that?

Apple Picking

Last weekend my parents, Michael, and I went apple picking! That was the first time I had ever been. It was so much fun! Over the years my family had gone up to the apple orchard to explore and buy apples, but we never picked our own. We went to the same place that Michael and I went to pick strawberries. The weather was nice as well! It was a little chilly, but the sun was still out! It was finally nice to have it be at least a little cold.

After we picked our apples we headed over to a little market place near by and bought some apple treats that they sold. It was so beautiful up near the mountains. We sat outside in a grassy place and ate our treats. Talk about an awesome day!

Friday's Letters

Dear September, I feel like this month went by so fast! I cannot believe I have already been in school a month! Halloween is around the corner, and my professors and family are already talking about Thanksgiving break!

Dear Week, It's been a long week! I am so ready for the weekend. Friday could not have come soon enough!

Dear Weather, Okay....I thought we had an agreement...it is suppose to be 104 degrees tomorrow. What is this?! It's October....FALL! So let's get onto the cool weather okay?

Dear Michael, At the moment you are teasing me for writing these letters. Trying to guess what I am writing. You are failing, but I am still finding it entertaining. It's been really nice having you back at school with me this week. I love having lunch with you most days. That is something I hope to never take for granted.
