Happy New Year!

Happy New Year! You guys 2015 is only hours away! Can you believe it? This year has been a pretty awesome ones if you ask me. I have much to be thankful for in 2014, and am looking excitedly into 2015. I know God has much in store and I am thankful for each day He has given me.

I also want to say thank you to all of you who sit behind a computer or phone and read this little corner of the internet. I love blogging, and I appreciate every single reader and comment.

I hope each of you have a wonderful and safe New Years Eve!

Aztec Cardigans and Snow

Can you believe that Christmas is past and New Years is upon us? This year went by so fast to me. Is that what happens as you get older? This past week Michael took me up to Big Bear, and it was so nice! I'll have to recap our little snow adventure this week.

Anyway lets talk clothes. I loved this outfit...however it was not appropriate for the snow. I was very cold! I also wore this outfit a few days later, but with my short black booties and I felt like that was a bit cuter than these boots. Also I love Aztec cardigans. That is all!

DIY: Cork Coasters

Christmas is in 2 days!! I am so excited! Today I am sharing a DIY for a last minute Christmas gift. I made these coasters in literally less than an hour and I am so excited to give them to Michael's family tomorrow! I think they came out really cute, and I really hope his parents, and sister like them.

I went to my local Michael's and bought these cork squares. They came in packs of 4 and weren't that expensive! I think $2 each. The first time around I tried to sketch out the letter and paint it, but that didn't work out so great. So second trip to Michael's and I bought the pack of letters.
I used masking tape to make the stripes, taped the letters down, and used dots for the polka dots. Just make sure everything is taped down really good and there isn't any parts lifting up or the paint will drip.
After everything was taped I spray painted them making sure everything was good and covered. Once the paint was dry just pull off the tape and ta da!
To make them look all cute I hand lettered gift tags that I bought from Target's dollar section, and tied them up with twine!

A Cream Sweater

California finally got the hint! It is officially cold here (took it long enough)! I am so excited to have had the rain. The last week has been off and on showers and I am loving every second of it! The mountains even have snow on them! This weekend I am going up to play in it, and I am so excited! I haven't seen snow in at least a year and a half. Michael is going to take me sledding!

Since the cold and rain has finally hit my area I have been pulling out my sweaters lately. This one is from Forever 21, and one of my favorites! It is like a wool material and so warm! I also love the versatility of cream. I can pair it with any color.

Where's your favorite sweater from?

Book Review: Refinery 29 Style Stalking

When I choose this book to review I didn't really know what Refinery 29 was. I saw the title and thought hey I like style why not! However, I wasn't really a fan of this book (honest opinions here right?). I thought the colors, layout, and design of the book was really well done! The paper the book is printed on is slick and makes the book feel expensive, but I wasn't much of a fan of the content.

This book is really based on street style and maybe if you are into that sort of style this book would be for you, but sadly I am not. I tend to lean toward the more conservative style, and this book really didn't apply to that. Most outfits in this book involved mixing prints or color blocking which just isn't up my alley. If you are into those things than this book is for you!

Black and Jean

Ladies and gents I am officially on Christmas break. I am halfway through my junior year of college. I can't believe it! I feel like this year went by so fast. I am really happy that finals are over and I can simply enjoy the Christmas holiday now.

This week the weather has been kind of warm again. We hit 75 yesterday so excuse the warm weather clothing in December. I am excited though since it's suppose to storm this weekend! Now that is what December is suppose to feel like!

DIY: Christmas Ornaments

People...it's December!! Can you believe it?! I can't! Our tree and lights up, some of the presents are wrapped...I can't believe the last month of the year is here. It feels like this year went by so fast.

Last week my friend and I made cinnamon ornaments. It was super simple and they smell glorious! So here's how to make it!

What you'll need:
1 cup of cinnamon
1/3 cup of applesauce
1/2 cup of white glue
cookie cutters

1. Add cinnamon and apple sauce together until well blended.
2. Add the glue with a spatula until you have a dry ball of dough.
3. Wait 15 minutes for the dough to settle.

4. Separate the ball into quarters.
5. Roll out the dough to 1/4 inch.
6. Use cookie cutters to make the shapes you want. Use a toothpick to make a hole in the dough for a string or ribbon.

7.You can either bake for an hour at 200 (f) degrees or air dry overnight, flipping occasionally to make sure they stay straight throughout the drying process.
Once you are done put a string or ribbon through and hang it on the tree!

Happy Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you all are surrounded by the people you love today. In my family my mom always cooks the turkey, and then my grandma and her husband come over for lunch. Tonight, my family is going to try and brave the mall and do the whole black Friday on a Thursday thing.

Here's what I am wearing this Thanksgiving. Southern California didn't get the memo that on Thanksgiving it's suppose to be cold...instead its suppose to be almost 90! We can't seem to get the weather right here. Here's hoping for some cold weather soon! I thought about pairing this top with some black jeans too. Depending on what you do on Thanksgiving you could pair a simple top like this with a blazer to dress it up even more!

Happy Thanksgiving all!

Hollister and Old Navy

A few posts ago I talked about how much I love this jean shirt so I decided to show you another way to style it. This outfit is a way to be comfortable and just a little more dressy. I've had this sweater for awhile now, but I think this was the first time I had ever worn it. The sleeves don't reach all the way to my wrists so rolling them up works really well! A sweater over a button up is a favorite look of mine. It can be professional but also really cute!

Also lets talk about sales! Forever 21 is doing a countdown to black Friday sale right now, and these pants at Hollister are only $25! Seriously a good deal! I'll link the pages below!

Friday Night Date Night Pizza Edition

A few weeks ago Michael, his roommate, and I made pizza! Talk about an awesome date night! It was seriously so much fun! Trader Joe's has $1.19 pizza dough! I mean can you get a cheaper dinner. I choose to buy the garlic and herb kind, and then I also picked up some cheese and pepperonis. I used some pasta sauce that I already had at home. My mom has also been growing basil so I chose to add that to my pizza.

It was a little difficult cooking it in a college apartment's oven, but we made it work. I think I had really high hope for how the dough would taste, and it wasn't as strong as I would have hoped. It was definitely tasty, but I just think I wanted to taste the herbs more.  I think next time I could just add my own in or get a better sauce. Either way it was a super fun date night!

Friday's Letters

Dear Weekend, I am incredible happy that you are here. With you means only one more week until Thanksgiving break! I need a break.

Dear Holidays, I cannot believe you are already here. The realization hit me today that it is almost Christmas. For some reason the holidays felt so far away and then all of the sudden BAM you are here! So to bring you in I have officially started buying gifts and listening to Christmas music.

Dear Projects, You are starting to stress me out. I have a lot to do before the end of the semester to finish you guys. Lets hope I can do it!

Chambray and The Man Bun

Chambray...jean shirt...whatever you call them you know that we all love them! They are seriously the best! No matter how many types you have we all have our one favorite too. This one happens to be mine. I stumbled upon it at a thrift store a few years back and it has been my favorite ever since. No matter how many more I buy I always come back to this particular jean shirt. It just fits perfect! I can wear it by itself or layer it and I always feel good about myself. Jean shirts are just a classic go to for me! I probably wear it all to often, but who doesn't right?!

Also the man bun...or half-up top knot if you want it to sound more feminine. I'm not sure how I feel about this particular hairstyle yet, but I decided to try it. It worked well with my second day hair, and it kept my hair out of my face which is always a plus. I think that when done right it can be a nice hairstyle.

What is your take on the man bun?

Book Review: Lost In Translation

Blogging for books is awesome! I mean who doesn't love free books?! The first book I requested was called Lost In Translation. It has a bunch of different words from other languages around the world that are not translated into English. I found that super interesting! Not to mention this book was super well designed! Each page had awesome graphics that went along with each word.

The two pictures above were two of my favorite words that were included in the book. I thought this was so interesting what they meant. The only thing I think I would have liked the book to include was how to say each word. Other than that I thought this book was awesome!
