How Difficult Is It To Pick A Halloween Costume?

(little me. we had just moved and so my mom used moving boxes and my sister and I went as presents)
BOO!!! Did I scare you? No...didn't think so...Normally I'm the one who gets scared easily. Anyway....Halloween!! It is right around the corner. That means it has been is time to pick costumes!

Now for a girl who is very indecisive and seems to be doing this last minute I mean on time.. Well this is a difficult task! Especially because I need a costume that isn't just for me, but for the wonderful Donny too. Last year we went as Minnie and Micky Mouse.

Since we are sadly trying to pick something last minute we have been through many ideas! We have thought of being burglars, Where's Waldo?, Alice and the White Rabbit, and cowboys and Indians. There are so many incredible ideas online. Many that are great last minute others that are better for a plan! Some of my favorites were a tooth and the tooth fairy, Katniss and Peeta, and Rapunzel and Flynn.

There are seems to be a million options and yet I need just one...just one simple choice...

Well I am glad to announce we have picked one!! Can't wait til Thursday to share our costume with y'all!

Game Night, and Disney

Hello Friends!
Isn't funny how I really do consider you all my friends? I don't know you, and may have never met you. Yet, I am so thankful tat you are reading my blog!
How is your Monday been? Mine has been fairly chill! Time for a link up with Sami!
Saturday night I had a game night! My mom and I made chili and corn bread. Then my friends and I played catch phrase, spoons, charades, and mafia. It was a seriously fun night!!
Sunday after church my sister, D, and I went on a last minute Disney trip. Very unplanned, but so fun! It had been around a month since any of us had been. I know...torture!
We found this awesome corner in Disneyland! We had never seen it before and it was so cool looking! We just had to stop and take pictures!

That's my sissy! She's my best friend!
So there's what I did this weekend. It was pretty busy! How was yours? Do anything special?

My Week

Life Lately via instagram and my phone
Monday I was miserable! I came home from class and crawled right into bed. Monday was the worst day of this cold. It was horrible!

This was a shot that I took on Tuesday after school. These are some of my coworkers. We were shooting water balloons at people in sumo suits. It was a fun little activity. Gotta love my job!

Tuesday night this is what I did. Lots and lots of receipts. I try and write in my receipts every month, but that never happens! Normally I end up doing it for like 3 months. Yet, I never have gone through and thrown out my old ones. I had receipts all the way from 2009! Crazy!

Last night was the International Night of Worship at my school. It was so awesome to be apart of that! Worship is one of my favorite things ever! It is such a huge part of what we as humans are created for. Being able to worship last night from people from all over the world, and in different languages was incredible.

Cup Half Empty or Half Full?

Are you a cup half full type person? or a cup half empty?

I am a cup half empty...I know...that is probably something you don't go around telling people? I mean saying "Hello! I'm Mariah and I look at the negative side of life" That doesn't exactly give the best impression now does it? Well here I am telling all of you that I am negative. I have a horrible tendency to look at the negative instead of the positive.

But hey! The first step to change is recognition right? Well I know that I tend to be an Eeyore (yes, my parents actually call me Eeyore sometimes). I tend to just not care "Oh bother!" or I just see things more sad than happy "Oh look my tail fell off."

This is something that I am working on though! I try, I try so hard to look at the good things. I am an extremely blessed person, and I should really look at these amazing blessing that I have been given.

Today I had this crazy light bulb moment. I was simply walking to class (in the was cold today!) and thinking hey, today has been a pretty good day. Which is something that doesn't normally go through my head. To me days go by a neutral. They are neither good nor bad. Nothing exciting happens, but nothing terrible. I seem to describe them as blah. Just plain blah. However, my light bulb moment was that why do I not look at things as good? If I have the outlook going into something as this is going to be good then if nothing bad happens it is good!

It seems to be that when I go into class, or work for the day I just do it. I don't think anything of it. I just do the work and when it's over that's it. Yet, I realized that if I actually start a job or task as something to enjoy then I actually enjoy it!

Amazing right? Something so simply as just being enjoying life is so hard sometimes for a person like me. So here's to looking at the bright side of life. To enjoying things from the very beginning!

Gotta Love Them Booties!

Leopard Booties: Forever 21
Tan Booties: Ross
Jeans: Hollister Jeggings
Sister's Sweater: Thrift Store
My Sweater: Forever 21

Booties! Gotta love them booties! I mean you can wear them year round. For me, my feet get so cold, and booties are heels that I can wear that keep my feet warm! How can you not love them?

My sister and I went to a play last Thursday night at my college. We obviously took the opportunity to wear heels! I mean for girls who don't get to very often you have to take every chance you get!

Plus I mean who doesn't love a fun photo shoot? Get all dressed up with your hair done! Excuse the blurriness of the last picture. We were losing our light. Also, yes my sister is younger than me, and taller -_- I know, I know!

What's your favorite type of heels to wear?

Boring Ol' Weekend

Sadly, the weekend is over. That does mean The Weekend Recap with Sami though! I always love reading about how others spend their weekends! I always seem to think that mine can be rather boring. This weekend sure seemed that way to me!
Friday night was wonderful! I had the whole house to myself. I have been feeling a bit under the weather the last few weeks, and it really started to hit me Friday night. I was able to take a nice hot bath, lay in my parents bed, and watch a movie. It was very relaxing!
Saturday morning I got up early to go garage saling with my mom. She is the ultimate garage sale queen! We always find great treasures! I scored a pair of maroon converses for $2! That was my treasure for the day!
After that D and I went to the mall, and ran some errands. We came back to his house to play games with his parents and watch a movie.

Sunday morning I went to church with my parents, and then ran errands with my mama. I felt awful all day on Sunday! This cold hit me full force! I mostly just laid around. However, I was at the point where laying around was not so enjoyable anymore. I really just wanted to feel productive!

This weekend was one I wanted to go by very quickly! However, I am still not feeling much better today. So here is hoping that going to school does not make me even more sick! I already am blowing my nose and coughing like a seal. Which is the last thing my fellow students want to be around during midterm week. Prayers to help me get better are much appreciated?

How was your weekend? Anyone else catch this horrible cold?

Dear Friday, I am all alone with you tonight. Just you and me. What shall we do? I am thinking a very long soak in the bath. Hopefully that will make me feel better!
Dear Maddi, I had fun on our little sister date last night! I cannot wait for you to be at CBU with me!
Dear Cold, I would really appreciate it if you would just make me sick already. Either hit me hard or go away! This whole hanging out with me thing needs to stop. All you are doing is making me feel awful!
Dear Halloween, I still haven't picked a costume yet. I really need to do this...

New York, New York

As of the time my family's vacation to New York was planned it has been the talk of our house! "We'll need that for New York" "You think it's crowded here?! Wait til New York" "Hey I wonder what the weather will be like when we are there" If you want to watch my sister's reaction to the travel news head over here or watch it on instagram.

Being that I am a huge Gossip Girl fan going to New York is super thrilling! I cannot wait to pretend to be an Upper East Sider, and walk the streets like Blair and Serena. Obviously, I am still a tourist, and seeing anything and everything is the ultimate goal. And I will have to be brave and take the subway. However, I have been saving and saving to go shopping! I mean it is New York! Who doesn't want to walk around with bags upon bags!
blair waldorf style
Lately the talk has been what are we going to do? My uncle goes to New York every year and we have picked his brain on what he thinks is the best things to do and see while there. I have made my own list, ofcourse, of all the things I want to see and do. I mean The Met...not only do I want to go inside, but sitting on the steps is a definite must!
After what to do in New York, the next thing my sister and I have discussed is what to wear? Autumn in New York is extremely different then autumn here in Southern California. Starting with the fact that we don't even really have an autumn. The weather should be around 40-55 degrees which is particularly different than our 60-70. That never happens here in So Cal and I mean NEVER! My sister and I are determined not to dress like bums though! We want to be chic and stylish. So the question is then posed what to wear? What do we pack?
My family leaves in almost exactly a month. My mind is racing of what kind of jackets I should bring, and what kind of shoes I'll need! Does anyone have any advice for me? I have been searching for New York bloggers that I can maybe get some insight from, but I haven't found to many.
HELP! I will take any advice I can get! Who has been there before? or maybe lived near there? What kind of clothes should I bring or wear?

Mini Pumpkin Pies

What say autumn better then pumpkins? I mean that's how you know October is here! Pumpkins are everywhere! I was scrolling through pinterest as I always do and saw this picture.
Mini Pumpkin Pies in a Muffin Tin
Do those not look amazing!! Well I sure thought so and I had to make it. The best part about it was that Donny and I did it together. We had a little hard time with portions, but we fixed it and they turned out amazing! Perfect little snacks!
The pin took you to this website. However, here is the recipe that I used. You will need everything on the mix list and a 9in pie crust.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  -2 cups canned pumpkin
  -1 1/2 cups evaporated milk
  -1/4cup brown sugar
  -1/2 cup white sugar
  -1/2 teaspoon salt
  -1 teaspoon cinnamon
  -1/2 teaspoon ginger
  -1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  -1/8 teaspoon cloves
  -2 slightly beaten eggs
I mixed all of those things up in a bowl with just a spoon. They were not hard to mix together!
Then I sprayed my cupcake tins. After I took out my pie crust and using an old circle sandwhich cuter my mother had I cut out all of my circles.
Next I pressed them into the cupcake tins. I let the sides fold over just like in the picture. Score the bottom of your dough with a fork.
After you have all of that done pour in your pumpkin filling. I filled mine almost to the very top.
The recipe online calls to bake them at 425 for 15 minutes. Then turn the heat down to 350 and bake them for 25-30 minutes.
I let mine cool, put some whipped cream on top, and then ate them up! They were so delicious!

Zoo, and Fall Activities

monday, Monday, MONDAY! I loathe thee. I hate having to go back to school. I do not enjoy the boring classes, and the teachers who drone on about nothing that I need to know.
Anyway! My weekend was packed! Friday right after I got out of school my family packed up and left for a weekend away in San Diego. It was a nice 2 days away just us 4. That rarely happens now that we are all grown up and seem to always be going in different directions. Yet, since we are such a close family it is really nice when it does.
Friday night we started off by having dinner with my uncle, aunt, and cousin. We only see them about twice a year, but I love spending time with them!
Saturday we headed to the zoo! I love the zoo! Animals are my favorite, and they are fascinating to me. However, my least favorite were the snakes. Snakes and spiders scare me! The zoo was so cool to do with my family. Lots and lots of walking, but it was very fun! Seeing so many of God's amazing creatures is just incredible!

On the way home from San Diego on Sunday we stopped at a corn maze. We do this every year for about the past 4 years. It's super fun, and if you have never done a corn maze I suggest you go try one! It is slightly hard, but that what makes it more enjoyable! They had a baby calf there and we also got to watch piggy races!

Once we got home on Sunday night Donny and my sisters friend Daniel came over. Every year since my sister and I were very little we carved pumpkins. It is another tradition in our house! It is something that signifies to me that fall is here and the holidays are coming. Once Donny came around a few years ago we always carve them together. My family is big on stuff like that. It wasn't planned that both of us would carve buildings but it ended up that way! I carved the castle on the left, and he did the haunted house (or hizzle as he was calling it) on the right.

After carving pumpkins we had an easy pizza dinner and watched Indian Jones. Which it seems D can never sit through any sort of movie on a Sunday without falling asleep..He's an 21 year OLD man!

It was a really fun weekend! Now it's time to get back to the grind of school and work. How was your weekend? Do any fallish activities?

Happy Weekend

Dear Friday, You cannot go by fast enough! Is my class over yet? That has been my question all day long! Please forgive my rush. I just really want to get to the fun weekend part already!

Dear Week, It flew by! I seriously don't remember this week at all! It all went so fast!

Dear Weather, You feel like fall! I am very grateful! My plum pants, and boots only help with this feeling. I am loving it! Please do not get hot again. This 70 degrees is very nice.

Everyone Is Beautiful

Just read the poem. Now think about what it says? My sister read this to me this morning. Where she found it off of pinterest. I just want every person to think about what it says. No one does tell you that it is actually okay to feel beautiful.
However, it is. Psalm 139:14 says that you are fearfully and wonderfully made. God made us in his image and he is perfection. So we are molded after perfection. No we are not perfect but everyone is beautiful!

My Week

My week...oh my week! Talk about a roller coaster of emotions of a week! Between my worrying and then a fabulous day yesterday it was been up and down! Today I am pretty happy though! This weekend my family is going down to the San Diego Zoo! I love the zoo!
This is a shot I snapped from my biology class on Tuesday. This is something...I cannot remember the name now but it was weird. All of those green string looking things were moving. Moving and swimming all over! It was kind of cool and slightly gross all at the same time!

This is my friend Kristen. We went on a little Disneyland trip last night. I also must mention that it was raining! It rained and rained and rained yesterday! It was amazing! I got to wear my riding boots, sweatshirt, and a scarf! It was finally feeling like fall!
We had a blast at Disneyland. I met her my freshman year of high school yet we fell out of touch once I moved schools. We recently reconnected and we have a lot in common! It's nice for me to find new girls to hang out with. Especially one that I have something in common with!

This is what I am staring at right now...a desk. I'm bored, and my throat hurts. However, today has been a pretty good day!

How is your weeks going?

I'm Guilty Of...

Okay readers! It is confession time. I doubted myself. I doubted my job. I doubted my schooling. I even doubted Donny. I don't know what was wrong with me. I really don't. I was very stressed, and I wasn't feeling good. However, all of those things are simply excuses. I do not have any type of good reason of why all those crazy thoughts were going through my mind. All I know was that I was completely emotional. I was crying. I was upset. Everything was just bad.

See deep in my heart I have no desire to be a teacher. Yes, I love little kids and I do love to teach them, but that is not what I really want in life.  As much as I am spending on my schooling you would think I have to have a pretty strong desire to teach. Yet, deep in my heart all I want is to be a wife, homemaker, and mother. That's all. I am simply only going to school to have something in my back pocket. I have always been taught to look ahead to the future. Looking ahead though means that I think if something were to ever happen to my husband I need to be prepared to have to support my family if he cannot.

It seems to be though that at times, like the last two days, that I start to freak out and worry. Which I think is technically a sin. I was definitely not trusting in the Lord. I had all of this pent up emotion about how I didn't want to be in school, and I didn't want to work, and yet how I might have to work one day and that was a horrible thought to me. I know that was a run on sentence, but it was also a run on thought going through my head. I didn't want to worry about all of that. I didn't even want to think about it. Yet, the future is one scary thing!

That is when God gives me some amazing parents. Well I have always had amazing parents, their wisdom just really helped me in my time of utter crisis. They were able to sit down with me and simply talk out my options. They explained how being a liberal studies major didn't mean I had to teach in a classroom, and how I might be able to work and still stay home with my children one day. It was all so calming once I took a step back and realized I have no idea what the future holds. I don't know how much D will make one day or where we will even be living. So why in the world am I freaking out and worrying about it now? It really doesn't do me any good.

So dear ones, that is what I am guilty of...doubting. Doubting myself, God, and many other things. Which is all so wrong! That is what I am working on. Not always looking so far forward. Sometimes it is okay to focus on the here and now.

September Empties

I felt like all of my necessaries ran out all a the same time! That was not fun. Everything I needed I was repurchasing lately. I don't have a lot of empties, but it felt like a freak out when you know your foundation is running low! So here is my empties for September.

1. Maybelline Clean Express Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover This make up remover is amazing. It's around $5 and that was a little hard for me to buy. I felt like I went through it really fast yet looking back I think it actually lasted me a pretty long time. I did not buy this again since I wanted to try something else, but I regret that now. Once I finish my waterproof remover I am definitely going back to this stuff. It worked really well, and I didn't feel like it was to harsh on my eyelashes.

2. ColorStay Makeup For Combo/Oily Skin This is a foundation that I am sticking with! I love it! The coverage is great, and it doesn't feel to cakey. I have already repurchased this foundation. I am the shade 220 Natural Beige. I can say the one frustrating thin was that it doesn't look empty. Yet, I had this thing upside down, I was banging it on my hand. I tried everything! That kind of bugged me. I felt like I was throwing away more foundation that I could have used. However, this was not a reason to change foundation, at least to me.

3. NYC Cheek Glow Blush I was using the shade Riverside Rose. This blush is really inexpensive, but I feel like you get what you pay for. The color isn't great, and it doesn't last long. I was buying it as I didn't want to spend to much on blush. I seem to have a hard time finding a good blush for a decent price.

4.  Maybelline Dream Lumi Concealer Everyone should use this. It is amazing! I have already repurchased this item as well. I love it. I just can't even explain just it's amazing you should try it!

5. Rimmel Stay Matte Powder This stuff is really great too! I repurached this as well. It is inexpensive and does keep me matte. I have incredibly oily skin so if I am going all day long I will reapply sometimes, but it isn't super coverage so it doesn't cover anything I already did.

A Work In Progress

Hi Friends!

As you guys can see things are slowly changing here around the blog. It was not exactly planned, but it was wanted! So please stick with me here as things may not always be smooth! I promise I am trying to keep things looking fairly normal, but give me some grace please! I really do appreciate it!

Weekend Full of Disney

Hello to another Monday! I am not real excited about today to be honest. I should be! I have an event at my school tonight. Yet, I am exhausted and I can feel a cold coming on. I woke up with a sore throat and a very achy body. Nothing in me wants to be at school today. A blanket, some hot tea, and a candle burning is what sounds amazing. Yet, I am here working on biology, and thinking about papers that I need to write. Doesn't it all sound wonderful...
Anyway! Here is what I was up to this weekend!

Friday night I took a friend of mine to Disneyland. She's a girl that I met while serving in my churches jr. high ministry, and have been involved in her life ever since! I love her! She got a pass that night! It was a fun quick little trip!

My sister sitting on the floor of Lowes.

Saturday my family ran errands and the hung out at home. One of the errands we ran was to Lowes where I was able to pick up new wood to make more signs with! I am so excited to have more wood! I have so many new ideas! I cannot wait to show y'all what I create!

That night Donny also came over and we made mini pumpkin pies and watched Iron Man 3. The pies were amazing! I'll be sharing the recipe I promise!

Sunday, Donny and I went on a Disney date. If you are an avid Moo's Musing reader you know that Disneyland is not foreign to us. Yet, we normally do not get to go for a full day. A few hours is great and that is one of the main benefits of owning a pass, but sometimes it is really nice to spend a full day there! Right now all of the fall decorations are up and it is wonderful! It was a really nice day and not to packed! We thoroughly enjoyed it!
How was your weekend? Do anything special?

A Happy Little Evening

Last night D and I met up for dinner at Chipotle. It was a great evening. We both seem to always run on opposite schedules and rarely get time to sit down together and just talk. Yes, we see each other at church or with family. Yet, getting to talk seems to be far and long in between. However, this action of just talking is incredibly important to me. D has learned this over the years. I like to ramble, and that I have a lot of thoughts that run through my brain...that's why we blog right?

So D and I met up, ate dinner, and just talked. It makes me feel much more closer to him, and we seem to communicate much better through dates like these. It helps us to be able to share our hearts, and what has been happening in our lives. Dates like these make me very very giddy. Giddy like a young girl with her first crush.

It also helps that after dinner we walked across the parking lot to Trader Joe's where he let me pick out whatever flowers I wanted and this small 67 cent adorable pumpkin! I mean what better night could ya get?

Isn't he just the best boyfriend ever? I know getting sappy here, but its the next day and I am still smiling!

I Won A Scarf

cardigan: forever 21
jeans: hollister
boots: thrift store (brand is from target)
scarf: nectar

Scarves are one of my favorite parts of fashion. There are summer scarves, fall scarves, and really warm scarves. I just love them all! This particular scarf I won!! Isn't that exciting?? Those give aways on instagram that everyone thinks are fake are real! AND I WON!!

This particular giveaway was based on how you named the scarves that they showed. I named this scarf pumpkin spice since it was a nice spicy pumpkin color. Or I thought so anyway.

The boutique that was doing this give away is called Nectar. I think that they are seriously just adorable! You all should go and check them out. Plus who doesn't love to enter something for free?!

This scarf is really warm and comfy. Plus I just love the color! It's barely noon here, and I have already received so many compliments on it. I am so grateful to have won!

*disclaimer* I was not given any profit for writing this post. All was done by my own choice.
