July Favorites 2013

Oh my goodness you guys! Can you believe that today is the last day of July?! I cannot believe that we are already to August! Now don't get me wrong, I am more then happy to get to September! I am ready to pull out my sweaters, socks, and hot drinks. It is almost here!

Now with the end of July comes July Favorites! Yay, Yay, Yay!

1. Tangle Teezer. I got this about a week ago. Technically I haven't had it all of July, but I am totally loving this brush! The catch with it is that it is made in Britain and not sold in the US. I bought mine off amazon though! It is meant to not pull at your hair and easily detangle it. Which I think it really does!

2. The Rocket Mascara I know that this one was in my May Favorites, but I still am using it and I am totally still loving it! It literally makes my eyelashes pop so much!

3. Revlon Colorstay 24hrs Makeup Combination/Oily Skin I know that last month I raved about the Covergirl 3 in 1 foundation, and now I must ask you all to please forgive me. Yes, that foundation does give a significant amount of coverage, but after using it for a couple of weeks I started to feel really cakey. I prefer to feel like I am not really wearing foundation, and with that one I could literally feel it melting off my face. With this Revlon one I am totally loving it! I have been using it almost the whole month now, and I don't think I have an complaints. I really enjoy this line since it has the variety for normal skin, and my oily skin type. It also had a lot of colors! I am the # 220. It gives me a significant amount of coverage, and really does seem to last all day!

4. The last one is not a beauty favorite I know, but I have totally been loving this green tea! Panera Bread (a local bakery/restaurant) has this purple acai berry tea that my mother and I adore! So when she brought this home I had to try it! Now it is a green tea with just the flavoring, but I think it tastes just like the one made at the store! Plus, I don't need to add sugar to it to make it sweet. I have drank it with and without sugar this month!

Okay ladies, there are my favorites for the month! What have yours been?

Bad day?

Hi My Dear Friends,

I know that normally on Monday I do a weekend recap. However, my weekend was pretty boring. I mostly worked, and unpacked boxes at home. Sunday, my family and some family friends went to see my sisters play 7 brides for 7 brothers. It was phenomenal, and she did an amazing job!

Today I just want to leave you with this quote. I googled Patrick Stump because I had no idea who he was, but I love this quote! I think that if more people were to live by this then we would have a much nicer world. It goes back to the verse "Do unto others as you would want them to do to you" Luke 6:31. If we humans lived by this then there would be no cutting people off on the freeway, or stealing parking spots at the mall.

Now as it is Monday, and Monday's are known to just be bad days try and make it a good day! That is my challenge for you all today! Even though you my be having a bad day, try and make a good day for someone else.

Tell me how that goes :)

Stop and Smell The Roses

Hi My Dears,

Today's lately post is going to be a little different. I want to talk about something that I have been doing lately and really shouldn't be. That is rushing along. I feel like lately I have been all about moving on to the next thing. Last week I kept telling myself "Just make it to Saturday (moving day). Just make it to that." This week it seems to be "Just make it to August." I feel like I keep rushing past and trying to get on to the next thing. By doing this I also seem to be missing out on what is going on around me.

Now don't get me wrong, setting goals for oneself is not a bad. Setting goals is great! However, one thing that I think so many of us forget to do is enjoy the process of getting to the goals we set. Yes, making a goal is fantastic, but what about the memory of the struggle and excitement of getting to that goal.

The song by Trace Adkins, You're Gonna Miss This, comes to mind. If we are all in such a hurry to move on or to get to the next thing in life then we may look back and miss the memories we could have been making on the way there.

For me it relates in that I really want to get to school. However, if I focus on just getting to August or just getting to September I may miss the excitement of decorating the house. Or spending my summer with my sister and Donny.

So this is a reminder for me and maybe for you. Don't forget to stop and smell the roses. God puts us in a situation for a reason. It may be a hard situation or a fun one, but either way enjoy it, learn from it, and make memories along the way!

Haven

Haven...dictionary.com defines haven has any place of shelter and safety; refuge; asylum. I think that everyone has their own haven. Their own place where they find comfort or silence. As a Christian we obviously all find that in Christ Jesus, but where do you feel his peace? My sister's haven would be laying somewhere quiet reading a book. My mom's is on horse back. I would think Donny's is driving his car all by himself.

I don't know if mine is in that bath tub, but it was sure relaxing! I put on my face mask and crawled into the bath green face and all and got to just lay there. With no one talking and no one bothering me. It was very nice and relaxing.

In our old house my parents had a bath tub, but I never used it. It was very nice to finally have one of my own!

What is your haven?

Moving, Moving, Moving

Hello Friends!
How was your weekend? Mine was full of boxes...upon boxes...upon boxes! That's right! It was finally move in day. All day Saturday we moved everything from the lovely rental to our new house!

God must have a sense of humor though! Now I live in Southern California. Where lately it has been 90+ outside. So on moving day we never ever never ever expected it to rain. Especially since we had been putting boxes outside on the grass (as you can see in the picture). It came as a total shock, but we survived and all is well!

Sunday, we all worked on unloading the mess! We mostly worked on the kitchen. I feel like we made some sort of a dent. It is exciting to finally to be in the new house and setting it up.
Donny came over on Sunday to help out and then my mom made a wonderful dinner and I made a cake! We watched Narnia that night.

Over all I feel like my family had a very successful weekend!

Blank Walls

Hello Dear Ones,

Since I have been moving a lot in the last 6 months I have come to notice a few things. I know I may complain about the mess, all the boxes, or even the bugs. All of which are part of moving. However, the one thing I have realized that bothers me the most is blank empty walls.

Now I know that most people associate blank walls with a new beginning. A fresh start or a blank canvas. I have realized though that blank walls make me sad. They are just empty. Yes, they have a lot of potential but they are just blank. Even this blog post without a picture is boring and can be sad looking. Just words on paper ( or a screen...we are using technology here). It is just blah. They look so empty and alone to me.

When we moved out of our old house I really noticed all of them and it made me upset. I was bummed to see all of my pictures come down. The certain things that had never been moved since I was little. The plates or pictures that I associated with memories. Those things made me sad to see getting packed up in boxes. To see such an empty house made me sad since I knew we wouldn't be there anymore.

Here at the rental though all the blank walls made me realize how much this place did not feel like home. The walls were empty (and still are). I will say that we couldn't really hang something for fear of putting a hole in the wall, and we tried to cover it up as much as we could with dressers and tape. But no matter what it was still a blank wall.

The difference is that in the new house the first thing you see is blank walls. They are everywhere! These blank walls, exciting as they may be, still make me have some sort of sadness. They just need to be covered up. The pictures and memories need to come out of storage and the walls need to start being covered. I don't know what it is, but I do not like or enjoy a blank wall.

It's The Weekend! Are You Ready?

Dear Friday, I am so happy you are here! I know that I am blogging kind of late, and you are pretty much over but hey! I got to it right? You were a good day, and we are almost all moved out!

Dear Saturday, MOVING DAY!!! You are exciting, and I just want you to come and go already.

Dear Rental Home, Tonight is our last night in you. I cannot say I am sad and I will not miss you. I cannot wait to have a home again.

Dear D, I know I saw you on Wednesday night for like an hour, but I miss you already. I do not like it when you go away. I want you to come home already. We seriously could never do the long distance thing. I cannot wait to see you on Sunday!

Dear Mom and Dad, Thank you for working so hard on the new house. I really appreciate all you have done for our family and for Maddi and my rooms.

My Life As of Late

Hello My Dear Friends!

How are your weeks going? Mine has been pretty exciting with the new house. The official move in date is Saturday, and I could not be happier! I cannot wait to be sleeping there. Even if it is all not set up, I just want to be out of this rental house.

So my life lately # 1 is this picture that I grabbed while D and I were at a Bible study on Tuesday. We used to go to this study about a year ago until I got super busy with school. So we decided to stop on by the study again. It was really fun, and I enjoyed going to a study together. It is a rare thing that we get to together in our very busy lives.

# 2 is that I have finally found and unpacked my books!! I am so ecstatic! Books are one of my absolute favorite things, and I have missed mine so much!

 # 3 and the last one for the post is this picture I instagrammed of D and I playing the board game stratego. It was one of my favorite games while I was growing up. I found this one at a thrift store a couple weeks ago and I have been dying to play it! My dad and I used to play this all the time together while I was growing up. Both D and I are super competitive, and we played a pretty competitive game! Just saying I won ;) Not that I would gloat or anything!

So that is my life lately and the link up with Heather!

Painting, Celebrating, and More Boxes

Hello My Dear Friends,

It is Monday again. How is your Monday fairing so far? Mine is pretty good. I just got up and ate some cereal. Now I am off to dive into the blogging world. I love this world. It is fun, and full of learning about people I have never met before. Yet, I care so much about and they seem to care about me.

Sorry...little tangent there. Anyway! It is the weekend recap time with Sami.

First, I am going to start off with Friday. I know that technically doesn't count as the weekend, but I always seem to add it in here. Friday was Donny and my one year anniversary. However, he had to work in the morning time so my mom and I worked on the new house. One of the main things I really wanted to do for my room was add an accent wall. If you follow me on Instagram you know that I was painting on Friday.

I am so proud of my wall, and I am in love with the color! I cannot wait for it all to be set up!
Then Friday night Donny and I went to Disneyland to celebrate our anniversary. We had a wonderful time! It was a nice to have some time just to ourselves. We got anniversary buttons and ate cotton candy while watching World of Color.

Saturday I ran errands with my parents for the new house and then D took me out to dinner to Olive Garden. We wanted to go there since that was where he asked me to be his girlfriend. It was a lot of fun and we enjoyed our little date.

Sunday I helped my mama unpack boxes at the new house for the kitchen, and then I went to work. It has been a pretty busy weekend, and seems to be that a pretty busy week is coming up for my family and me!

Did any of you do something fun this weekend?

What I Have Loved

The first thing I have been loving this last week is the new color of my wall. I have been looking at paint chips for weeks! Finally having picked a color I am so happy to have my room all painted. Now I just cannot wait to set it up and sleep in there!

If you have not seen this movie then you need to! It is such a great movie! My sister and I watched this on Tuesday. I love this movie.

I know that those are only two things that I have been loving, but I really haven't had a lot to talk about. Most of the week was focused on the fact that we got the house!

New House, and My One Year Anniversary

Dear Friday, I am so stoked that you are here! I have you and Saturday off! That makes me very excited!

Dear New House, I can officially call you our home! We have the keys and are finally able to start moving in. I cannot wait to paint my room and get my bed set up. The whole moving in process cannot go by fast enough!

Dear Donny, One year ago today you asked me to be your girl friend. Was I surprised? No, I was definitely expecting it. However, I was overjoyed anyway! I am so blessed to have you in my life! Thank you for being a wonderful man of God and a pretty awesome boyfriend! I cannot wait to see what the Lord is going to do next.

Dear Readers, I promise I am trying to get better at posting, and taking pictures. Also, please let me know if there is some sort of post you want to see! I love hearing from you all!

Daddy's Birthday and Life Lately

Hello Dear Ones!

Before I start with anything else, I have to give a shout out to my wonderful father!

Today is his birthday! So you should all be wishing him a very Happy Birthday! I am so blessed to have such a Godly example in my life. He is such an amazing dad to both my sister and me.

Now onto my life lately with Heater!

A new coffee cup! This cup is by Mary Engelbrelt. I absolutely love her art work. We have a few of her cups around the house here and I love them! Secretly I collect them ;)

This was a quick picture I took at a recent trip my sister and I took at the library. I was trying to be artistic...can ya tell? I just love the library. My mom had us reading when we were very little, and books are like old friends to me. My mom took my sister and me to story time and read to us all the time. The library is literally one of my favorite places. I wish I could go there more often.

My best friend Tori stopped by the other day and we had a nice long talk together. I love those days with old good friends. We could literally talk for hours and hours. We never seem to run out of stuff. That's how I know that we are super close.

Okay guys, that's all I have for you today! How are your weeks going?

Fourth of July, Weddings, and Disneyland

Hello Wonderful Friends,

It feels like forever since I have posted anything on this blog. I am so sorry about that! Since the Fourth it has been a whirlwind of crazy events! I am just going to jump in and start telling you all about it!

That is my sister and me rocking our home made Fourth of July outfits. This Fourth of July was very different for me then most. I don't know about you all, but we kind of always do the same thing on holidays. I have come to expect this. However, this Fourth was very different. My family normally went down to a local school and watched the firework show that was shot off of a hill near by. Since we have recently moved out of that house near the school and hill we weren't able to do that this year. Also, I was scheduled to work on Fourth of July. That is another change that happened this Fourth. So my family hung out together in the morning time, but come about 2:00 everyone went their separate ways. My parents and sister to different parties, and me to work. The good news was that the mall closed early so I was off before any of the fireworks went off. I headed up to D's house, and spent the evening with his family.

Friday, I do not have pictures for....sadly. I know, I know! Punish me. I had a rehearsal for the wedding the next day, and then D and I went out on a date. We went to dinner and a movie.

Saturday was the wedding. I was there pretty much all day, so there really isn't anything to tell. It was beautiful, and I am so happy for my wonderful friends!

On Sunday I spent the whole day at Disneyland! Donny, my sister, and I all went and we had a blast! We got to see the new show at Disneyland, and it wasn't even packed.

This weekend was exhausting, but really fun. Now for the week. I am hoping that there will be a moving into the new house post coming *wink**wink*

How was your weekends? Any plans for the week?

June Favorites

Hello Darlings!

Can you believe it's July already?! I can't! I feel like summer has gone by so fast! I'm not complaining though. I want to be back in school already. Well with the end of June comes one of my favorite posts, and videos to see. That is the June Favorites! I love seeing what everyone else has been loving this past month, and what fun new products I like to try out. So lets hop in and get started!

Oh...wait! One more thing! I only have 4 beauty favorites this month, and I apologize for that. Everything has been so crazy lately with the house and since I haven't been home, or rather avoiding being at the rental I haven't been trying a lot of new things, but hopefully July will hold to new things!

1. Olay Fresh Effects {Shine, Shine Go Away!} Shine Minimizing Cleanser I discovered this on Ingrid's May Favorites. I am loving it. It really has decreased the oil in my skin, and gives me this matte finish. I tend to use this product at night..which I don't know if that's okay or not, but I do it anyway. It makes your face feel clean. Once I am washing it off it gives it that fresh, clean, nothing on my face feeling.

2. So I actually think Ingrid talked about this and I went and bought it as well! It is the CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation. I am the shade 850, but I would actually say this is a little dark for me. When I went to buy it they didn't have a lighter shade so I just picked the closest one. I am absolutely loving this foundation! It is one of my complete favorites! It is a medium coverage, but I think it works perfect for me. It keeps my shine at a minimum, even after I have worn it most of the day. I just love it, and cannot seem to rave about it enough!

3. Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Metal Eyeshadow. This is the color inked in pink, and I really like this one. I have the taupe color as well, but that one isn't my favorite. I wear this pink a lot as a base. It gives a nice color.

4. This is the NYC Nail Polish in Sidewalkers. I bought it at target, but I couldn't find it online to link back up to. I painted my nails this last night, and love the color! It looks exactly like what you see in the bottle. I would say that it doesn't dry in a minute like the bottle says though. It does dry fast, but it still is a little tacky and can leave imprints after a minute. I don't think this is that bad though since most nail polishes don't dry that fast.

Okay! That is my June Favorites! Now on to July. Hopefully this month will include lots of favorites, and moving. I am really hoping to move!
